Ryon and his wife Cheryl have three children, Adryon, Alyson and Isaac.  He has been in full time pastoral ministry for over 20 years, throughout which he has served as senior pastor, youth pastor and associate pastor.  Ryon has always had a heart for community ministry, which is what led him to West Haven, where he leads the worship and outreach ministry.

His ministry focus is to “Be The Church” by challenging Christians to live out their faith 24/7.  His ‘must read’ to understand this heart for ministry is “The Neighboring Church” by Rick Rusaw and Brian Mavis.  Ryon believes real ministry opportunities show up in the space of time between the events of a daily planner.

Ryon has been accused of having the spiritual gift of Craigslist due to his ability to find great deals.  His interests include music (guitar, bass, drums, piano, cello and someday, maybe bagpipes), automotive (body, paint, upholstery and mechanical), home (design & remodeling), cooking, fishing and hunting (to name a few). He is a jack of all trades and believes his talents are not for his personal enjoyment but rather to help make connections with people from all sorts of backgrounds. He prefers hands on ministry and being involved in the lives of people.

Regarding his testimony, Ryon says, “I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home with parents who love and reflect Jesus. There are two moments I remember vividly from my childhood.  In my first memory I accidentally gave my friend a bloody nose. He ran into his house and his dad came running out wanting to know what had happened.  I played ignorant and said I had no idea what had happened.  That lie stuck in my mind like glue.  My second memory was at school when a classmate locked her bicycle to the bike rack and my bike as well.  I was in a hurry to get home after school and I was angry that she had her bike locked to mine.  I pitched a bit of a fit and swore at her.  That night I was heavily convicted of those sins. I sat on my bed and I acknowledged that Jesus is Lord, I repented of my sins and I confessed that He is my Lord and Savior.  God’s love and grace are my motivation to serve Him and go where ever He leads.”

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! -2 Corinthians 5:17
