Children’s Church

Children’s Church is held during our worship gather at 10:30 for kids in kindergarten through the second grade. Led by Shelly McGhee and other volunteers, our mission Our mission is to share the truth of God’s Word in an effective way at an appropriate age level .Check your child in at the Children’s Church area before the service. After church is dismissed, parents return to the Children’s Church area to pick up their child.

While West Haven has Children’s Church, we strongly welcome children in our regular worship gathering. As such, we defer to the discernment of the parents in determining if you place your child in Children’s Church or keep them with you during the Worship Gathering. We have a four-chair cry room in the southwest corner of the worship center. It has a changing table along with a monitor and speaker to see and hear the service.

AWANA exists to see children know, love and serve Jesus Christ.  At AWANA, your children have the opportunity to memorize, study, and learn life lessons from the Bible, to help them grow spiritually, and have a great time while participating in exciting games and activities.

AWANA Clubs is divided into three age categories:

  1. Cubbies
For 4 and 5 year olds (4 years old as of September 1st)
  2. Sparks
For Kindergarten through the 2nd grade
  3. Truth and Training (T and T)
For 3rd grade through the 6th grade.

The name AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15:

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.

AWANA clubs meet on Wednesdays from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays during the school year. The last AWANA Club meeting for the 2017-2018 year is Wednesday, April 25th. We have a West Haven Community Kids Carnival on September 9 to launch the 2018-2019 year.
